My showreel will never be as good as the best part of your childhood.

So meet me, prep with me and let's create magic together.

Samagat is an independent filmmaker based in Mumbai, India.

He specialises in cinematography and is drawn to stories that bring out the essence of our present human condition.

His first feature film as a cinematographer, Weekdays and Weekends, is about four friends and how their relationships shift over a weekend trip. It is inspired from films by Eric Rohmer and is shot purely under natural lights. It premiered on Apple TV in 2023.

He graduated from Whistling Woods in 2019 with a gold medal and two scholarships. Since then, he has worked on independent films across genres, often behind the camera, helping directors shape their visual approach. While at film school, his diploma documentary, 'Boots n cats' was selected at the Pune Short Film Festival.

His first encounter with a big budget production was as an intern in 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. Since then, he has never looked back.

More recently, he was a selected in the PSBT Doc Commune program 2024-2025.

He divides his time between Mumbai and his hometown in Kolkata.
He has recently shot two mini-series with Filtercopy and Dice Media and practises ad filmmaking for his love for the authoritarian setup in an otherwise perfectly democratic country.
